Personally, I believe 15 (or even 14) is suitable. Although you certainly shouldn't allow her to where anything she wants at the beginning. Ease her curiosity at first by introducing her to some clear or nude/pink lip gloss, some clear mascara and perhaps some eyeshadow (of more subtle colors such as whites, beiges, and creams). Anything more at this stage would not be suitable for her age. Also, it'd be good to remind her once in a while not too spend too much time on her makeup in the morning. School is a learning environment, afterall.

When she is older, you can allow her to experiment with more colors and other makeup items such as eyeliner, colored mascara, blush and foundation.

I find that opressing a child's want to experiment with makeup as she begins her teenage years often leads to the opposite effect. Therefore, it's probably better to allow her to try a few subtle things at first.

I got to wear makeup at 11. Not alot of makeup. I only got some concealer, blush, lip gloss, and mascara. I'm 26 now and turned out OK. I DO think however that you need to let them start out using a few basics and explain that as they get better at application you will let them start wearing more. This hopefully will alleviate the "13 yr old mall tramp" look. Having a 12 or 13 yr old wearing full eye makeup(liner, heavy eyeshadow, mascara, etc) is a little much though. I would save that look until they're 14 or 15.

Personally I say women shouldn't have to wear makeup to feel beautiful or "hide" - but since I am in the minority... Let a young girl use light gloss and a little blush starting at 16 just for enhancement. Encourage a good cleansing regimen as well as daily application of sunscreen(even in winter skin can be damaged) a light cream at night will help too and as she gets older she can add to her pallet with soft enhancement items like bronzers and cream eye shadows. I would recommend a professional application of make up for her first big dance so she can learn to apply formal makeup - an invaluable skill for dances, parties and upcoming formal events and have her get advice on day application as well. Choose a high quality product right of so it lasts longer and does less damage to the skin.

definitey not whenever! b/c if u think about it...makeup is usually used to attract boys! and im sure u dun want a 4 year old **** as a child. make up ruins the skin if u dun use it properly. mayb around 14 is the best. about when start high school. dun let dem use a lot tho. mayb a lil mascara and eyeliner. when they get 18...then let dem use w/e they want. but dun use foundation early b/c then they grow up w/ ugli skin.

I believe when your child expressed an interest you should be there the whole way with her. 12 seems to be the norm. You need to show her with your actions as well as your interest in how she looks. Take her to have a facial or a light makeup. Start her off with mascara, and maybe a very light shade of eye shadow. Help her to not goop it on, "As girls do what girls do", they seem to learn from each other and that's not good in some things.

15 or when they enter 9th grade. You can always buy them fun sheer glossy makeup from Mary Kate and Ashley in Walmart or when I was a kid my mom started me off bonne belle lip balms when I was 10 (5th grade). Oh, i'm 25 now and my first makeup when I was 16 was covergirl and later clinique.

The whole issue should be responsibility because makeup can clog pores leading to breakouts and acne, so your kid must learn to keep her skin clean at all times with makeup removers, cleansing clothes, and a good non-stripping non-acneic cleanser. So if you kid can handle that, let her try it.

Certainly not "whenever they want'. Children should not be allowed to wear make up. Make up is for teenagers and adults. I think 15 is good age, as it was when I was allowed to start wearing make up.

around 11-13. but by the age of 13-14 they should be able to wear make-up. probably no younger than 11. my little sister is 10 and i think she puts on way to much eye-liner. she's not even supposed to wear make-up to school! but i'm 13, and my mom let me a little bit last year, and now i can. especially because i got contacts!
