Yes! I used to get messages from someone's parole officer. They were in trouble for missing an appointment. Also someone who owed money to a man who sounded very, VERY bad. Probably the same person was in trouble. My daughter called and left a "firm" message to the bad guy and I called the probation department and the calls stopped.
Another time a girl called in tears wanting to make up with her friend Natalie and begged her to call back. She did not, of course!

Oh my gosh, yes. We have the previous number for the Utah National Guard. Everybody still calls it. We've had this number for 12 years now. You'd think people would stop calling us. I don't get mad, though, except for that one day that I got 17 phone calls for the Guard. I just give people the 'new' number.
I got one msg. once that was some lady telling me she was at the airport and that she had left the dog in the locker and PLEASE don't forget to get the dog out. This was about 15 years ago and I still worry that some poor doggy starved to death in a locker in the Salt Lake airport. I'm pretty sure it was a prank call, though. I hope.

Sort of -- mine was a brand new number. But some jerk is going around pulling off my cell number as his. I've had messages from attorneys, and what I'm pretty sure was a probation officer o_O Kinda scary. And I have to keep calling these people back.

I don't know if they got the number from someone ahead of me, but some guy keeps leaving me messages for "Dolores" and that it's urgent. he's from some kind of company, but i'm not going to answer him. he's left about 13 messages. I think Dolores is in some trouble!! but why did she have to give him MY phone number!? I feel you girl.

When we lived in Chicago, my wife had the previous number of a mental hospital. We would get desperate calls looking for help. It was awful.

Yes - I used to call them back and let them know that they had the wrong number. I guess they didn't believe me, so I gave up on being nice and just hung up on them.
