Went back to work and am not producing enough on the pump to get him through the day. So we had to add formula. We have tried several different brands but he wont take. I will try the half/half approach.

Be prepared, you may get a lot of negative comments on this question!

Why are you switching? Did the doc recommend a formula to you? Maybe you can try another kind. The baby will also probably not take formula from you because they know who breastfeeds them.

Since I wasn't producing enough milk from the beginning, I miked the formula in with the breast milk. What you will find by doing this is that some people will tell you is that if you mix the formula and the breast milk, the baby won't absorb it well, or that it will not do any harm. I did that for about three months and my child was very healthy. One thing to look out for once you run out of breast milk is that your child might get constipated. To avoid that I give my son 1 oz of Prune Juice or water mixed with dark Karo Syrup.

Some babies will not take formula after having breast milk because breast milk is sweet. My kids went straight from breast milk to whole milk. I mixed the two at first but once their tummies got used to the whole milk I had no problems.

you're no longer dropping your breastmilk, your physique is purely understanding that it would not could produce buckets and buckets. between 2-4 weeks it is completely typical for a woman's grant to drop slightly, as that's basically extra appropriate regulating itself to fulfill the babies desires without over-producing. you will probable stop feeling engorged and could see a alleviation in leaking. Pumping output isn't a correct indicator of milk grant. lots of ladies people who completely nurse their babies will purely be waiting to pump a million-2 oz. entire. A breast pump isn't as effectual as emptying the milk ducts. a touch you will bypass in and drain a breast in numerous minutes. in case you had oversupply, the overactive letdown is physically powerful danger. Does your son unlatch and milk purely sprays out by using itself? if so, attempt letting it spray right into a towel (or in keeping with risk a bottle, in case you prefer to objective and reclaim a number of it) and then relatch him as quickly because it is not any longer likely everywhere. Overactive letdown is something that the child is particularly lots going to easily could get used to. it is likewise achieveable which you actualy have a sluggish enable-down reflex and he's who prefer the bypass of bottles and gets dissatisfied in view which you won't be in a position to feed him as quickly as a botle. lower back, this is something he's purely going to could recover from. My suggestion is to easily placed him decrease back to the breast. He would be fussy on the beginning up, yet purely persist. And in case you could supplement, you do no longer could use a bottle. you will get a supplemental nursing equipment and supplement on the breast, or you need to use a syringe/eye dropper, or a cup/spoon (and enable him "lap" it like a cat)

Try to make your own forumla with goat's milk. See the link below. I know of other mamas whose milk dried up and their babies wouldn't tolerate formula (YUCK! who would). This tastes much closer to mom's milk (yes, I did a taste test).
