For over a year i fostered dogs, it was very rewarding.
But there is such a shortage of foster carers we really need more people to be aware of fostering.
Would any of you consider taking the time to do this very rewarding charity work?

I live in Wolverhampton UK. If you dont live in the area im sure there are organizations near to where you live that are desperate for your help.

I did foster (until I adopted one of my fosters..now I can't have more dogs...3 is my limit) but I loved it and it really helped me deal with the loss of my beloved Sierra (gsd)
If I lost another of my beloved doggies I would gladly begin fostering again.!

I would love to but unfortunately I have just moved to a farm with no garden as such, only open fields.
At my last house 6 feral cats adopted me so I brought them with me, they are not feral now but still afraid of people and very Territorial if another cat comes near the house, I also have a little Pekingese dog who is very spoiled and I think it would be cruel to him to bring another dog into the house.

I don't think a lot of people know about fostering animals, perhaps the society should advertise in supermarkets etc.

I used to do pet fostering, its great, over the years we've had 9 cats all long term, 2 of them I had to rehome, and a gorgeous Daschund named Daisy. I had to give it up when I moved tho, but seriously thinking on getting back into it.
Ive even been called out late at night to help out. You are so correct in saying theres not enough fosterers, I say that if you have a cat, then 1 more would make much difference.

I do. And we need more fosters too. Im in Cincinnati Ohio so anyone near that is intersted please contact me. Even if your not that close to get to weekly adoption we are always rescueing something that needs a little more long term care. I have Baxter now that had to have his belly opened to get a bathing suit top out so when I picked him up from the vet I knew he was gonna be with me for a bit.

I do foster now.
You are right it is very rewarding. Sad when they go but happy because they are going to a new home that is just for them.
Our rescue is always short on foster homes. We just never have enough space. I wish more people would do it.

Ive never actually thought about that before. That sounds very rewarding. Can you send me some more information? I have a male 11 month old puppy would that cause a problem?

I foster hedgehogs that are born late in the summer which means they are too young to hibinate in the winter. I then realise them back into the wild when the weather gets warm enough.

In any given situation, focus on what you do want your dog to do instead of on whatever he’s doing wrong. Learn how to train your dog https://tr.im/qadDG

For example, suppose that on many evenings, your young dog gets busy looking for trouble just as you’re digesting your dinner. He grabs a boot from the mat by the front door and gallops through the house with it. You yell at him and take it away. He grabs its mate. You yell and take it away. He heads for the kitchen and starts checking out the counters in case something tasty’s been left behind. You chase him away. And on and on, until you’ve lost your temper and torn out clumps of hair you can ill afford to lose.
