Against
* World population growth putting pressure on diminishing resources
* (In the West). Movement of jobs/capital to the developing world (especially China).
* A worsening ecology (extinctions, climate change)

Yes I believe we should.
1. History tells us we have all had bad times, but in the end we will prevail.
2. IMO, to not look forward with optimism would be to live in despair. This appears to me to be a terrible way to live.
3. We can accomplish so much more when filled with optimism than despair.
4. Living in despair is unhealthy.

I prefer to...and why not? Isn't the U.S. still the land of opportunity? Can't someone still go as far as their drive and initiative can take them? Aren't educational opportunities still abounding? I for one, refuse to sit back and say woe is me......
There are jobs everywhere and higher educational opportunities .
