What affect will this have on our daily lives if the situation in Zim spirals even more out of control?
The rand, plunging?
More illigal immigrants?
Your thoughts please.

At the moment Zim isnt even a racial issue anymore. ALL the people are suffering under an 83-year-old who's gone completely cuckoo. It's a mystery why the other African governments are so unwilling to speak out against it. So, its not racial motives and there's no money involved (coz the whole Zim economy is smaller than that of Port Elizabeth). Why don't they condemn it? D@mmit!
What I do know is that the happenings of the past few days has been on news channels worldwide. That means the world is also looking at South Africa. If anything, coz SA currently holds the chair of the UN security council. The reaction of the SA government (or lack thereof) in the near future will strongly affect the rand and migration from Zim. Apart from this the anc should know Tsvangirai will be the next prez of Zim (if he can stay alive til then) when the grim reaper finally come do what everybody else wants to do to Bob.

South Africa is the only Country that can effect change in Zimbabwe. You have read the ANC response to the political oppression of the last few days so nothing will change unless the UN/US/UK call Mbeki in and issue him with an ultimatum. I wonder how many South Africans took note of the Rand's response to Zimbabwe or are aware of the flight of Foreign Capital from the JSE. No Tourism .no foreign investment and friends like Mugabe and SA is down the tubes. Goodbye FIFA 2010 shortly.

There seems to be an unspoken "code of honor" amongst ANC members and their "struggle" comrades. How else would one be able to explain certain officials loosing their positions due to the most obscene and ridiculous acts of corruption, just to walk smilingly into better paying and more influential positions days later! Perhaps this is the reason for South Africa's "quiet diplomacy" so far towards a fellow MARTYR (uncle Bob) in the battle for black Independence and governance in Africa.

YES! The Rand WILL plunge even lower than it already has.

YES! We WILL be forced to tolerate even more political asylum- seekers, refugees and illegal immigrants.

YES! We will have to stand back and watch as hundreds of jobs and business opportunities are exploited by individuals who have a seemingly never- ending hunger for the so called democracy of our country.

YES! South Africa will continue to deteriorate in terms of natural, agricultural, commercial resource management and poverty alleviation, until something DRASTIC is done to rectify/ aid the situation in Zimbabwe!!!!!

I am off to chase my #*%@ing happy pill with some jaggermeister!!! CHEERS!

Having watched the SA government's (ANC) stand on Zimbabwe over the last couple of years - they are certainly not going to step in now.

Uncle Bob has a free hand and will take all tainted with his touch with him.

So for all the "progress" made over the last 10 years in SA the country is again down the crap shoot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
