I need an impt document coming from a relative of mine. He is presently not in the country right now & I've been trying to get a hold of him abroad for the longest time for that said document. Thing is I just found out he has cancer. That he is presently having chemotherapy. I have no idea when he will come back home. Although I've spoken to his secretary and she told me he might be back tentatively by the end of this month. I do have a copy of the document I need from him and signed by him but this was dated back 2 yrs ago. Although I can make some corrections and change the date. I need this document to complete an application form. I need to submit this application form asap. My question is: Should I proceed to submit this document w/o him knowing despite the fact that I've been trying to get in touch with him to no avail & talk to his secretary to try and help me out again by answering the phone when they ask about me. Btw this secretary already helped me once with the same dilemma

this sounds like a very difficult situation, but going behind his back would not be very trustworthy, and could really cause problems later. Cancer can kill but doesn' t always. Don't use that as an excuse to do something that you might regret later. keep talking with the secretary, it sounds like they can help. If this document is so important to you, then fly to where your famiy member is. Otherwise you need to respectfully wait. As far as that goes, you know right from wrong and i am thinking if you do submit this document without his approv al you could get into trouble. I don't know. Your msg is very vague. my best advice is stay on the path you are on.

Face it: you are in a tough spot. If this is a document used in a legal proceeding, having a copy with or without changes that you might make (which is invalid, of course) won't help you in any case.
If getting an changed and signed document prepared for you isn't important enough to the other person while he is occupied with fighting for his life, then you aren't going to get it.
Can the third party take a conditional application to be held until the situation can be resolved?

Possibly you could type up a duplicate document and get it faxed to him and he could date and sign it and fax it back.
Then mail it to you. You could probably used the faxed copy temporarily until the original came in the mail.
