Good question.

My guess is that it would have to be in the area of astronomy. Astrology as we know it today is a load of rubbish but long ago (thousands of years) it was an extremely complex science. Based as it was upon the motion and positions of astronomical bodies at some point somebody had to start taking records of the positions. The simple act of identifying (choosing) a few constellations and drawing them would constitute an astronomical /"scientific" book. Since the drawing of pictures and diagrams obviously precedes actual writing it's likely that this could be what you're looking for.
