frankly speaking,the lines on our hand are not made not birth
the thing is that when we fold our hands,these lines are created as a result of folding.
imagine a paper,fold it and again unfold it.you would be able to see the line of fold.in the similar fashion,these lines are created on our palm
their purpose is just providing extra friction when we hold something so that we can have a better grip. but the skin folds along these foldlines when we cluth our fist.

Nah...didn't have to think much about it....I know the lines on my palms are there for fortune tellers to read and lie about my future and past....(then I have to pay for the priviledge)!!....

identitiy purposes--each person's fingerprint is unique
for holding/ grasping things, without fingerprints things that we hold will easily slip
