how do palyers get entered into to the combine?

You don't 'enter' into the combines. You are invited by the NFL. If you are not invited you can hold your own skills day and invite NFL teams to come watch but unless you are a big name college star forget about anyone showing up. Or most NFL teams do have walk on tryouts. They get 100 or 200 wannabes there and maybe a team finds someone decent once every 5 years or so.

You have to be invited to the NFL combine. If you're not, you have to wait to work out for scouts at your school's pro day
