I get like this and wonder if anyone else does. How do you overcome it? I'm working with a lady who wears very strong perfume and it gets right down my throat.

You are not alone, I can't stand it when women use too much perfume, it makes me gag and I can't breath for it,I got to rush to the fresh air,and as for bloke who wear too much body spray or aftershave it's pretty much the same ,If I go into big department stores I avoid going past the perfume counters, Boots the chemist is bad for it too.

Yep I get like that too (I have asthma) and I also feel very sick if I have to stay in the presence of strong perfume for any length of time. You could try asking her if she wouldn't mind wearing it around you because you have sinus problems or some other medical condition? That would probably work without offending her.

I'd say something. I can't stand it when someone is close by wearing strong perfume. I was 6 months pregnant and on the bus once and a lady sat next to me who was wearing half a bottle of perfume! and i threw up all over her shopping. She looked absolutly disgusted so i said to her it was your perfume that did it. She didnt know what to say but i bet you she does'nt wear it again.

You are scent sensitive, so ask your boss to discretely ask the lady to stop wearing the perfume it is making you sick. As a matter of fact most places today are operated under scent sensitive laws. Some people just don't care. They will do it anyway. Good luck

Yes. Strong perfumes or colognes can cause asthma attacks in those who suffer from them. I would talk with a supervisor and have him/her talk with the offender. If you don't feel comfortable talking with a supervisor, you can also make the suggestion that perfumes and cologne are not to be worn at work because there are people with allergies and/or asthma.

Sounds like you may be allergic to her perfume. If you feel she would try spraying less perfume or stop altogether to spare you the reaction I would try that first. If you don't think she would listen or she didn't stop after asking I would speak to her supervisor. You can't help your allergies and it's not right you suffer in vain. Good Luck!

Sounds like you have an allergy. Talk to a doctor, a mild anti-histamine may help in and emergency, but certainly not for regular consumption.
A naturopath may also be able to help you - I took a product that reduced my histamine levels that was not addictive or caused drowsiness.

im asthmatic so this sometimes bothers me in public places or on the bus, i dont really know what you could do about the woman but you could go to the doctor and get a mild asthmatic reliever inhaler to open your air ways when they start to close up.
