I suspect it is because when he strings together "big words" he has to stop and make sure he is speaking sensibly.

He is a terrible public speaker. I have no idea why Americans thought he would be a good world representative of the best of the best of our people. It's a little scary if that's the best.

Because many people are not great public speakers. That is not a requirement to ;lead a people. Case in point, Moses had a speech impediment. Being a slick talker doesn't make you smart or a great politician. All it makes you is potentially a good used car salesman. Mr Bush is a graduate of Yale and has an MBA from Harvard. I love listening to these Hollywonk types chide him when many of them barely graduated high school. Give me a break.

People that have met him say he is quite different privately. Many people are uncomfortable with public speaking and therefore sound or appear awkward or tentative. I used to have to speak for a group in my state, and I would have to go and throw-up before I took the stage. Some are simply more comfortable than others. Thanks

Bush is simply not a good public speaker, and this is to his detriment. It is remarkable that he does as well as he does, however, considering that the entire Liberal media is constantly trying to trip him up. I wonder how long most of us would be able to perform under that condition?

Bill Clinton was a masterful speaker, although not even close to that of Ronald Reagan, although he had a fawning media who treated him like a King most of the time. The times he was challenged he slammed his fist on the table, became red in the face, and acted like a spoiled child. My take is that Bush handles pressure better than Bill.

Because he is not allowed to act (behave) naturally. He is ridiculed for a lot of his idiosyncrasies unmercifully.

I am sure his staff worked with him diligently to assist him in proper pronunciations and to speak in a politically correct manner. Personally, I liked it better when he spoke naturally, Texas slang and all.

Review a lot of the slanderous posts concerning President Bush and you will easily see all of the misspelled words, improper sentence structure and and misuse of words. These are by people who are slandering and ridiculing President Bush.

Yep, give me back the President Bush that says, "we'll get him, dead or alive".

I think all the criticism by Democrats and the media have a bearing on his being tentative. He has always done what he felt was right regardless of opinion polls. Most people who answer polls aren't educated enough to know what is right. I admire Bush for that. Great speakers aren't always good leaders. It will be interesting when a terrorist attack occurs here on a Democratic president's watch, but they will probably blame Bush. No other president in my lifetime has been criticized and blamed for things far beyond his control.

When you tell as many lies as he does, you have to constantly think about every word you are saying so you can remember them all.

There is a video that shows Bush speaking at a debate when he ran for governor of Texas and one showing him in a 2004 debate. It is amazing how fast and smooth he was back then compared to now.

Look it up on youtube - search for Bush and Dementia.

It's quite possible.

Have you ever heard Bush speak in Spanish? He's extremely fluent, and almost seems to never stutter or pause or do any of that stuff that he usually does.

Because he can't remember his speech and he's trying to make something up that even remotely sounds intelligent. (Which he often fails miserably at!!!)

The problem with America is that about half of our population is even stupider than him, so they don't even notice.

I bet it's because he knows that whatever he says, less than half of America will believe him anymore.
