Tourists, has this forum changed your mind about visiting South Africa?

I am a South African who lives in Spain, when I visit South Africa I do so as a tourist (rent car, accommodation etc.) however I do know where to go and what not to do.

The South Africans as a nation are extremely helpful and friendly people, and most feel responsible and concerned for the people that may be visiting South Africa.

Many South Africans also feel impotent and frustrated about crime and the South African government´s non commitary stance.
We feel it´s important to let as many people know about it as possible and perhaps then some pressure may be placed on the government to deal with it.

We also feel it´s important for tourists to realise that the social, political and financial environment may not be one they are familiar with or what they are used to back home.

How many potential property investors are going to be informed about this?

It´s worth doing a bit of research before visiting South Africa on how to keep you, your family and your investments safe.

I'm no tourist but had a breakfast with a tourist I met on this forum. He is from Kansas. He says he believed the ranting of ppl like Alf, revjohn. But it was reading Bad Brad that made him a regular on the South Africa section. He was more than determined to see South Africa. He's been here for six weeks and has fallen in love with it. I've just arranged that he meet three estate agents this afternoon and he's determined that he is not living before signing a deal. He wanted to leave tomorrow but has now changed to his plans and will only leave next week.

Myself; I know about all the crime and all, but the RSA is a place I really want to get to.
