well my friend is so proud 2 be Italian and since I'm not Italian I don't know what its like (but I guess its pretty cool). I'm Irish and so is another one of my friends. Soooooowhen my Italian friend said 'I can't wait 2 celebrate St.Patrick's day!!!!!' my other friend gave her a look and said, 'But your not Irish'. "I know I know but I'll just say Kiss me I'm Italian" . No offense 2 anyone and im not trying to be racist in any way but it gets on my nerves a little that she's gonna say that because this is the day 4 the Irish not Italian...sorry ... so How can i tell her 2 stop???

Lass, don't worry your wee head about it. Let the lass say what she likes, and you go have your fun.

OH MY!!! I'm sure glad I'm not YOUR friend!! I would be extremely hurt if you DARED telling me when and how I can celebrate ANY holiday!!! Do you let your other friends dictate to YOU what and when to have fun??? WOW!!! You DO NOT EVER own the "right" to TELL any harmless person when, where, or how to celebrate any holiday. As a "friend", you wouldn't even consider the IDEA that you deserve more consideration for any reason. That's what's known as SELFISH - OH!!! Just for the record - I am 50% ITALIAN, 30% IRISH, and 20% Sioux Indian - - yup! It's the Italian part of me that HATES being told what to do, the Irish part that craves booze and kicking a--, and the American Indian part that keeps me sober!!

You know if i was as sensitive as you i would say neither are you Irish.
(Im assuming you are american here, or not actually born in Ireland)
And dont get so uptight about it, im Irish (as in born in ireland, both irish parents, lived in ireland my whole life and in ireland while im typing this) so how do you think people like me feel when we here people who weren't born here claiming to be Irish?
lol
For the record it doesnt bother me, i have better things in life to be bothered about, but you should be proud of where you are born whether that be Ireland, america, britain, germany, italy or wherever.
Dont forget your heritage roots (if they are infact genuine) but dont abandon your mother country either for the sake of jumping on the plastic paddy bandwagon.
Oh and btw, you cant tell her to stop, millions of non irish people celebrate st paddys day for alot of different reasons.
You dont have the right to tell anyone not to.
And St Patricks day isn't a day for the Irish, it is a religious holiday meant to celebrate the actual saint, not a nationality, and if it was a day to celebrate a nationality then by rights it should be for the english, seeing as St Patrick is english.
Open your mind and get your facts right before opening your mouth in future, believe me it will lead to alot less instances of looking like a fool.

st. patrick was english and italian (no, not irish) and its a catholic celebration so she has just as much right to say that as the irish.

its not your place- I'm irish too but not about to exclude anyone- its a holiday for those who want to celebrate heritage but also for any italians or whoever to put on some green and drink some green beer...it doesnt hurt anyone and until your elected irish spokeswoman just relax.
