You are wrong about Gavaskar. He is very shrewd, knows how to make money, if necessary by provoking people & forcing them to say things they would normally never say. In other words, as a writer, columnist & commentator, he thrives on controversies. And right now, he must be laughing his way to the bank because of Ponting's one moment of foolishness when he opened his mouth to answer Gavaskar where he should have ignored even the most personal remark or comment.

Mr.Gavaskar is more stable mentally than anybody around .
The response ( Mr.Ponting et al's ) is shear prejudice that a man should have dared to talk about Aussie on- field behaviour .Not even his stature as a cricketing legend would allow him that liberty. But the fact is it is precisely he who can do so as he is the one who has seen so much and experienced so much both on field and off field and is still involved with the game. The others cannot.
So the practitioners of "COMPETETIVE CRICKET" combine to silence him.
This kind of behaviour is not new to the present generation of Aussie cricketers. It is a tradition carefully but openly nurtured from long back.In fact the whole setup teems with such behaviour and a careful scrutiny of certain commentators response and views to such behaviour will stand testimony to tacit support on the part of the establishment with an air of superiority with an attempt to gloss over such incidents.
Mr.Allan Border says that it is cultural difference and misunderstanding when someone from the sub-continent should be offended when an Aussie or someone from a like cultural background should swear at him saying " you lucky Bastard" when this guy does not get out !! And God knows what kind of culture it is!! and why these cultural superiors should expect the sub continental culturally different (read inferiors) should find it acceptable and swallow such language?
Sure bringing up of Mr.David Hookes death causes hurt , but ,drive home the point my boy. Is it not a fact? If you do not stand up for the boys even now, then you never will.
Finally - the great world beating West Indians wacked their opponents with a smile and enjoyed thoroughly their game in their heydays but they never, never, never, repeat never hurt other's feelings.
MY BOY, THEY WERE ALSO FROM A VERY VERY VERY DIFFERENT CULTURE to any cricketing team , but STILL they always knew ,HOW NOT TO HURT OTHERS BUT STILL BE COMPETETIVE AND ENJOY CRICKET.
Thus they also made every other guy enjoy the game.
HOW did they know it?
WHY did they learn it?
WHERE did they learn it?
Were those guys playing "UNCOMPETETIVE CRICKET"?
Or were they just plain dumb ?
Ponder guys, Ponder.
!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

More than the Cricket World Cup news, the sports pages are heavily debating about Gavaskers comments, Pontings reply and again Gavaskars remarks.
Gavaskar is right in saying Australians outside the cricket ground will be bashed/hitted out if they behave in same fashion. Ponting may be remembering the hit he got from a girls brother after what he did to that girl in a discotheque at Kolkata.
Ponting should also remember that, it is not the time for him to think of replying to gavaskars comments, but concentrate on cricket.

Why Gavaskar alone. When India lost to Bangladesh Indian fans all over India went berserk even to the extent of attacking houses of players. The fault is not with the players. When you select non talented players or players who should have retired are still playing are selected.can they perform to the expectation of Indian fans. Definitely Indian team cannot perform. I am 52 and if I am selected with influence I cannot see the deliveries of fast bowlers but for the sake of money I may be in the team and score ???????? With my talent I may score 10 or 20 runs but it is not my fault you should know. It is not selectors fault also since they(selectors) most of them don't know who is the best for the Indian cricket team since you should know often you will see Indian cricket players are selected based on influence/money/match fixing/etc. Hence, all will have to go berserk only.
When you have cement company chief as the President or a politician in the selection committee and cine stars in the commentary box for expert comments - Indian cricket team will remain ALL WORLD's No.1 team. After the match all Indians will have to go berserk only.

I don't think he is mentally fit ,and for a man who is on the ICC board its a bit worrying the amount of trash coming out of his mouth.
not only with the ponting thing,he has now said ridiculous comments about David Hooke's and how he died,to bring up such a sensitive subject and bad mouth a dead man shows that sunil has no class and is a disgrace to Indian cricket.
he should be sacked from the board,so he can get some mental help.
sorry all my indian friends, but i find it strange how you all try to make Australia out to be the devil,do you not realise the same things are said about india's cricket team in Australia-so who's right and who's wrong? i suppose it all comes down to perspective.
