"Every time I look in the mirror......."

It makes me wonder, why should we care what anyone else thinks? We're all hurtling towards the inevitable.

(sorry folks, on a bit of a downer this morning...)

Hi

Yes, I think about this often but instead of it being a painful experience for me I see it as a spiritual thought.

When you are in the room with someone who you feel inferior to, when interacting with this person realise how you will both eventually be skeletons rotting in a coffin. This will provide you with a sense of humility and empathy with that person.

We are all on the same path to eternal darkness, pomposity and violence should not be a part of our society with that knowledge but it is because most people are in subconscious denial of their own mortality.

Death can scare me, the thought of not being here anymore, of not EXISTING anymore is extremely daunting to me but also enlightening.

Dont fairly get the question yet songs that save me going are: while the youngsters Cry - White Lion Runaway prepare - Soul Asylum those 2 are good for the thought "Theres extra considerable issues available." Blak steel - Venom This music is complete of interest in a feeling of 'uncooked potential'. Jukebox Hero - Foreigner purely a good thought for the extra youthful guitarist. countless journey songs like Faithfully, Open palms, etc. All can impact anyones ideals.

Every time I Look in the mirror and see all the surgery that I have had.
Every time I go for chemo and they try and find a vein that hasn't collaped.
Every time I go out and someone stares at me for just that little bit too long!
Try to stay positive and remember the sun is shining and we are all here for such a short time, make the most of it!

You kind of hit an existential nail right on the head (for me anyway)... with precious damned few exceptions, I don't care what anyone else thinks. The vast majority of the population of this planet you'll never meet, or they become a 5 second blip experience in your life.
As far as the "own mortality" thing goes, knowing (every day) taht I only have a finite amount of time on the planet (but I'm a practicing Buddhist, so I say hip, hip, hooray for reincarnation; I really do believe in it), allows me to live my life to the fullest. For example, I started college when I was 34, started Law School when I was 39, graduated Law at 43. I work at it when I need some spending cash, but I took up drag racing Harley-Davidsons (professionally... I make decent money when I win) at 47. So, right now I'm a college educated, American Bar Association admitted, professional drag bike pilot. I love it... a lot! And if something else comes along that I take a liking to (like maybe being a Bonsai Tree farmer... on second thought, no!), then I'll do it, but I like racing and will stick with it for a long time (It has it's risks; I went into what's called "high speed wobble" last Feb. 2nd at Phoenix and crashed big time; bike is totaled but being fixed, and I shattered my left tibia (shinbone) in two places. All part of life. Leg is healing fine, I'm moving to Jacksonville for physical therapy. I'm scheduled to race again at the AHDRA nationals in Gainesville in July, and I'm going right back to Phoenix in August (I'm even going to ask to race in the same lane that I went down on in Feb). I'm not going to hide because of misfortune. I could possibly get banged up again, but unless my bike explodes during a race (never seen it happen... seen a few cars go up, but they run Nitro and damn few bikes do...and not mine) explodes and turns into a two-wheeled hand grenade, crashes are usually painful but very rarely fatal. So to answer your question about mortality? I'm faced with my mortality frequently. I just have fun with it.

p.s. one of my sponsor is Jim Beam, so we manage a little fun. I race a Harley, and Harley culture is an entity unto itself (I'm not talking about outlaw bikers either, although they're generally pretty good guys who mind their business and don't want to be f___ed around with). I'm single, so I really don't mind the female fans either. Hey, It's a hard knock life for me.

I think about it a lot every six months when i go for my Cancer scan.
It got me big time a few years ago, i even had a few minutes on the 'other side' and keeps coming back to bite me.

Just for the record, there was no white light, no flash backs, etc and there i was hoping i'd be able to re-live being 17yrs old with a blonde called Susan all over again.(damn)

Every time some pillock speeds past me in a 30 zone.
But we all have to die of something. I'd rather it wasn't at the hands of a boy racer though.

I can feel it chasing me! I myself am surprised by how often I think about my own mortality on a day to day basis (at least 10 to 15 times a day!!).

I hear ya, happens all day everyday. Personally I don't really care what anyone thinks anyways, but I guess it's a part of life we all gotta accept.
