why do some people are selfish?

i have some family member that are so selfish that when they need my help i be there but when i need them they refuse to help me and thats really make me angry but still when they aske for my help again i cant stop saying yes because i feel sorry for them and i then help them. i dont know what to? can anybody tell me pleas?

DAT'S BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE ONLY OBSESSED WITH THEMSELVES.YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS ARE JUST TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YOUR KINDNESS.I NO IT'S HARD TO SAY NO BUT U NEED TO PUT A STOP TO IT B4 IT GET'S TOO LATE.AFTERALL THEY WOULDN'T DO THE SAME FOR YOU

You are lucky to be born with such a nature. I know people take advantage of it but it beats being selfish. I have that nature too. We just have to learn when to say NO. Just like other things in life.

i am the same way.........and i know i am older than you....but sometimes i just think it is better to give than receive and i kind of think it is just good to help people for nothing sometimes...but i do think it should work both ways...and it is not a good feeling to be used all the time...and it does change you if it happens to much...your attitude i mean...i would not let someone just keep taking advantage of you..........i know i am older and it has gotten me many years of changing my so freely given heart and work but it does pay to think of yourself sometimes.

u know all r selfish and it is the one most important trait to survive.
only that ur selfishness should cause prob for the others.

well sunshine i have found that there is always 2 sides to every story so i would have a bit of a self assesment and worry about my own faults
