From 70's until recently, name a few of your favorite horror movies :) I'd like to see which ones are the most popular just by your standards, not by sales or anything like that.

My favorites (just to name a few): all 3 of the Saw movies *Jigsaw is a mastermind*, House of 1000 Corpses, Stay Alive, all the Friday the 13th movies, the Final Destination Trilogy, The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, the 2 Resident Evil movies, all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, The Amityville Horror (classic and recent), Queen of the Damned and all of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies.

I forgot to put the Hellraiser movies on there too.

The Amityville Horror (new), Saw, House of 1000 Corpses, the Ring, the Grudge, House of Wax (new), Final Destination (all 3), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (new), and it's not really a 'horror' movie I guess but I am also a big fan of the Sixth Sense.

There are so many. For the classics, George Romero's original Night Of The Living Dead & Dawn Of The Dead are excellent, with a moral (which for horror is a rarity), Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the original Halloween and Friday The 13th. Also, the Evil Dead films are just plain fun. Most recently, I loved Saw, the remakes of Dawn Of The Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original Alien, and the Scream trilogy.

I don't know if I'd consider this a "horror" film, but one of the most chilling films of all time still has to be Silence Of The Lambs.

If you're looking for real HORROR movies, and not Hollywoodized stuff, check out the following, but be aware: These movies are flat out hard to watch:

The Last House On The Left, Cannibal Holocaust, SÉANCE, and Audition.

Other than the aformentioned, some of my personal favs: Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, The Devil's Rejects, Wrong Turn, The Ring, Cube, Saw and Saw 3, Dawn of the Dead remake, Seven.

My faves aren't among the most popular, but here are a few:
Black Christmas (1974 version), Tourist Trap, Return of the Living Dead, A Nightmare of Elm Streets 1 & 3, Blair Witch Project, Carrie, The Descent, The Fog (1980), Evil Dead, Ginger Snaps the first two Screams, and, of course, the original Halloween.

"Halloween" is my all time favorite. Michael Myers is the only one you can still scare me to this day. Doesn't matter how many times I see it. He gives me the creeps every time. "The Shining" is another creepy one, I agree with you on that, but "The Queen of the Damned" was a waste of time and money. I am a big Anne Rice fan, and if you have read the books, then you know what I am talking about. The movie and the book are 2 different stories. Another favorite is "The Exorcist", and the original "Amityville Horror". "The Grudge" freaked me out as well.

I love Nighmare on Elm Street part 1, Halloween (all besides the 3rd), Final Diestination 1 and 2 and 3, Scream (all, but 2 is my least favorite), It, Christine, Carrie, Queen of the Damned (although it wasn't that scary). My favorite would be Halloween. I love Michael, so mysterious!

I'd have to say the scariest movie for me is "The Grudge". Now, I'm an avid horror fan and nothing has ever scared me, really scared me, or given me nightmares - but after I saw this, I could not sleep without my light off or the tv off. I had to shut my closet door for fear of seeing that crazy head/face floating down the side of it! The noise she makes me most scared. Some of the other horror movies I love are 'The Devil's Rejects', 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (the new one), and 'Saw I and II' - I really didn't think 'Saw III' was that great. I am really looking forward to watching "Dead Silence" - comes out tomorrow!

I love all the old classic horror films. Halloween is my all time favourite. Of the recent scary films, (Not good enough to be called horrors) not many even make me jump let alone scare me! The only exception to this are Japanese horrors. The Grudge, The Ring, The Apartment, Dark Water are brilliant and truly scared me, as in gave me nightmares! Forget the American remakes, just watch the Japanese originals.
