Calling attention on predators or harmonizing chorus with the rest in the cave? I've slept on medical barracks and witnessed snorers cutted or following patterns by other snorers. Melodic,perhaps not,but surely scary to any living beast.

Snoring is usually prominent in the overweight. Perhaps it served to weed out the fat ones? The lions could find them easier.

Snoring is NOT a normal healthy occurance. It happens when the airway is blocked - usually by excess skin or fat in the throat. It serves NO purpose in nature and is, at best, a warning for sleep apnea.

It's a defect--just not one severe enough to affect evolution. That's why people still snore.
