After Left-wing groups heard that Fox news was hosting a Presidential debate, they told Democratic candidates they couldn't go. This despite the fact that the debate would still be between Democrats, and would be an examination of views subject to all participants. The Dems folded like a cheap suit and decided not to go.
Now a leading Dem has told freshman Democrats they should not go on the "Colbert report" despite the fact the show is simply "too risky". Do they know that Colbert is a Liberal, and that his show is simply a spin on faux Conservatism? Or do they fear ANY opposition? Everyone knows they already own pretty much all of the "mainstream" media, so what is so problematic?

Justa, if being "fair and balanced" is your goal, why then would anyone want to go to a debate hosted by CNN or heaven forbid, CBS? It's just plain silly, the Democrats fear having the American people know they fear having their lack of a plan exposed on ANY venue.

They are afraid of being cleverly outed. They fear the outing of their real agenda. If elected they realize their ideology will create a long term recession even though the Conservative lower tax style brings in far more revenue they will have to increase taxes to keep their ideology and ultimate goals a possibility. Both sides of our parties are about long term change and at this point the Dems might find their socialistic ideology an impossibility unless they gain the white house and continue rule in congress.

What is so problematic is the idea that you think Fox hosting a debate is going to be fair and balanced. No Democrat has gotten to finish a sentence on Fox unless they were certified crazies, in which case they were given the rope and the time to hang themselves.
I have often wondered, given todays penchant for using sound bites without origination or context, why any serious person, let alone politician would appear on a show that sends them up, and leaves a tape trail.
There is no reason to assume Left-wing groups could tell all the candidates not to go and the Democratic candidates wouldn't. They just aren't in that kind of lockstep thinking, much to the dismay of Pelosi.
So you are trying to tell me Fox is even handed? That falls into the category of nothing I can do about that.

Quite a diatribe. Do you really think that anyone, democrat or republican, actually does what they are told to do? Almost all politicians put their own unique spin on the issues at hand, for their constituents. To say that all democrats are at the beck and call of the left wing is a misrepresentation of the facts and shows ignorance. Just like saying that all republicans are mindless sheep, which thankfully, John Sununu proved otherwise. Lucky for us, most people are not as narrow minded as this question.

Last fall, Nancy Pelosi said something to the effect that you'd have to be nuts to go on Colbert. It had nothing to do with being afraid, it has to do with image. Did you see the southern Congressman (R) who wants the ten commandments in every school yet he could only recite one or two of them? Colbert is good at making Congressmen look silly or worse.

I only think of the rally's word.... "us of a of america, the suited us of a God ever gave guy, became outfitted on 3 bedrock techniques: Freedom. Liberty. And concern -- that somebody might take our Freedom and Liberty" ...is actual one among the suited satirrical statements i've got ever heard.

Who the hell has time for mindless TV debates when the future of the Iraqi war and the lives of our troops are what our political representatives are concentrating on. We Democrats fear nothing but the idiotic thought processes of the Republicans.

This is understandable. Colbert may be a liberal, but he also out for laughs. It is understandable that they wouldn't go on his show, because it may lead to their embarrassment.

I remember Nixon's 3 second appearance on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in when he said, "Sock it to me?"

It's fast getting to the point that the Dems will quit taking questions entirely because they know that their entire platform is built on a house of cards and the least little breeze will send it tumbling.
