i think all children should get a good thrashing every morning and evry night before bed. And at school if they misbehave, beat them with the cane till they learn not to do it again.

Ask this question forty of fifty years ago and most people wouldn't bat an eyelid. Most fathers usually got out the belt to an unruly child. When those children grew up and had children of their own however, most suddenly realised that this wasn't really "perfectly acceptable" at all, and its usage declined. I don't think it has been officially outlawed yet in the UK, but you can bet it will, as using a belt (as opposed to the hand) really is really a form of child abuse. The liberal section of today's society won't allow it. As for the rights and wrongs of corporal punishment, one could debate that subject until the cows come home. Everybody has their own view on that, and I won't bother you with mine!

Unfortunately, the irony of your question is going to be wasted here. I know you are joking but beware of the Daily Mail readers on this site who take everything literally, and over react, forming torch wielding angry mobs etc

Anyway, I would say any age from the 'terrible twos' upwards..

lol..... for me i never hit my child with a belt, bare hands is still good but not to hard to hurt them just to make them realize that what he did was wrong and also talk to them WHY you had to give them a spanking.

Regretfully it never is. Sometimes they can be awfully trying. The best thing to do is just leave it for right now and come back and tend to the discipline while you are not mad.
