Shake spear, Beethoven, Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Edison, Nostradamus, Jesus's mother Mary or Mary Magdalene
Anyone of the above artists, writers, creators....becaues of their intelligence and passion and foresight
One of the Mary's because I think it would be very interesting
to talk to either regarding their relationship with Jesus and what would think of how people think of them today and all that has been written and wondered about them over the past 2000 years.

Your idea of "religious figures" could use a little work, as many figures in history are associated different ways by different people.
I'd more than care for talk with Joan of Arc not for anything she could have done in life, but for how she the viewed the word she grew up in as well as maintaining her respect and morals when confronted with adversay in their many forms of her 19 years.

*Martin Luther King Jr. about what is going on in the world and why and what to do.
*Tupac Amaru Shakur about the same as MLK Jr., but more about his poetry and life.
*Aaliyah Haughton or Lisa Lopes just for fun, looking back on the old days and reminiscing.
If we could go back in time, I'd choose Hitler...use my German to speak with him before the Holocaust began, to reason with him and ask him about what went on in his head...find out his secrets and blackmail him or any other way to keep him out of coming into power. Then, I'd help him find a nice sedentary job, working as a cheesy receptionist at a dentist office.
Or waaay back in time, talk in general to the idiots who thought they had any right to abuse people as slaves (Africa, or anywhere) and sell them or make them work.
Actually, a fun hobby for me, during the Civil Rights Movement, I'd love to be at every memorable milestone event...like on the bus with Rosa Parks, for when that person told her to get up, I'd love to get in their face and start yelling obscenities of how much they need to get off the bus and WALK. (I know everyone's always blaming Rosa Parks for being "overrated" but that was just an example of how I would love to have fun.)

Dead or still alive?
If you mean alive, I choose George Carlin because he is intelligent, quick witted, and is my personal role model.
