No, make sure that everything goes where it is supposed to go. If you closed the lid, and there was a stoppage, you would know sooner.

It is said if you leave the lid up when you flush the toilet it forces germs out into the air and if the lids is closed it stops this. But to be honest most people I know eave the lids up without problem. I think it's personal choice :-)

Yes you should close the lid before flushing, this helps because when you don't close the lid you are allowing a fine spray to spray all around the bathroom and contaminating everything. Good Luck !

You should always close the lid before flushing there are many little splashes of dirty water that escape and hit the floors and walls during an open lid flush.

It doesn't matter. If you look under the seat, you will see two pieces of plastic or wood like little legs. These hold the seat up off the bowl and allow air to enter the bowl while flushing. If there are actually splashes coming from the bowl, they could still exit the bowl at this opening.

yes if you think about it with the seat up the droplets spray about 6 feet around the area of your toilet. if you leave it down there is still an opening but at least it wont spray up just out your counter is higher than your toilet hopefully so it will keep it off that...isnt your tooth brush there?? ew.

yes you should, i was reading a health article not long back, when you flush toilet, germs, poo, come out into the air and float around, which you can't see but can make you sick.
