I am 37.5 weeks and my baby dropped yesterday, how long after this does labor usually start? What causes the baby to drop anyway?

Can happen anytime. Really isn't an indication of labor. I dropped around 36 weeks, but went over my due date. It also drove me crazy to have people comment on the baby dropping and how I'll probably go into labor soon. Don't get your hopes up.

A baby dropping simply means that the baby is positioning himself for birth, dropping lower toward the birth canal. And as far as how long, it's up to the baby.

My lil girl dropped about hte 37th week and i hate to say it but i am still waiting and i have passed my due date. As i have heard so many times the baby will come when she is ready.
