My last 2 pregnancies have both had to be induced at 9+ days, i do not go into labour naturally.
If i am going to have to be induced anyway, why do they have to force me to wait 9 - 10 days before they do it. If this is causing me stress, then surely this is not good.
I understand that babies will come when they are good and ready but in my case i am just one of those people that don't go naturally. I have been told that my little girl is ready to be born, but yet i still have to wait. Both of my children have had to be induced and i gave birth naturally with both, with no c-section.
I feel like i have just been fobbed off with the excuse that if they induce me now then i run the risk of a c-section, but isn't it true that i will run this risk in the end anyway.
Can someone give me some constructive advice please, without telling me that it'll happen when it happens.

Please don't stess over this.
The answer is that the dates can and useally are off by 7-10 days. And it is better for your baby's health to wait. An early born baby can have risks. Now, we all know of babies being born early and healthy. But the doctors are looking at 100% healthy if they wait a few days 7-10 or risk that small chance if taken early or on the due date (which maybe off ) and have a baby that needs help to breath, The lungs are one of the lasts things to mature. Remember your baby is getting her oxygen by your blood. And that she is in water, so to speak. Just know they are doing the best for your little one and you. You are probly in the last stage and just want it over. It is hard to wait. I am looking at my four month old little girl and it was worth the wait. It is hard to be told one more week or day. But in the end it is worth it all.
I wish you the best!

I'm in the states and here doctors are likely to induce starting at 39 weeks if you are extremely uncomfortable. Not sure what the 'rules' are for you and your docs.
The only two things I know that can help labor get started (outside of the hospital) are testosterone and oxytocin. If it’s comfortable, sex will help get your cervix ready and may start contractions. Nipple stimulation helps with the production of oxytocin - the contraction hormone. This does take time and for someone with tender breasts it can be painful.
Here’s a link from Birthing Naturally if you want more info: http://www.birthingnaturally.net/cn/tech...
NOTE: Nipple stimulation can have very strong effects, similar to Pitocin (synthetic oxytocin). For this reason various experts have given the following recommendations:
- Only massage one breast at a time
- Only massage for 5 minutes, wait up to 15 minutes to see what happens before continuing with the massage.
- Do not stimulate the breast during a contraction.
- Do not use stimulation after the contractions are 3 minutes apart or 1 minute long.
Take care - it's almost over - you'll do great!

I soooo feel your pain, I am 37.5 weeks pregnant and a week ago my baby weighed 8lbs they said they were gonna induce me this week or next because my last child who weighed 8.1 lbs broke her shoulder cause she didn't fit. Now the docs are saying they want to wait two more weeks, that will make my baby about 10 or 11 lbs if she gains the same amount of weight each week, I feel as though they are more like if you need a c-section then we will just do that, but I don't want a c-section. The only comfort I have is knowing that it will happen, I know it sucks and 10 days feels like forever, but it could be worst. I was thinking this yesterday at the doctors that alot of the women there were alot earlier than me so they have a ways to go. Good luck hope it helps to know you are not the only one miserable.

Doctors like to wait as long as possible for the induction because even though you may not go in to labor on your own your cervix is more likely to be ripe for the induction (softened and opened some). That way you are less likely to have a c-section.
Also they like to be as close to the due date so that they are really sure that the baby is ready. A little late is better then a little early.

I don't have any answer to why they make you wait but perhaps you could try natural induction. I did this when i was 39 weeks and 2 days because i was sick of being pregnant......... i was sick alot and in pain.
Don't know which one of these worked but i used a heat bag, you know the wheat ones, and placed it on my boobs for about half an hour( not too hot though). Then i also tweaked my nipples..........i think that is what they call it......basically playing with your nipples a bit. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but about 30 minutes after doing this my water broke.
worth a try i guess.

I say tell your doctor how you feel and that you want to be induced. It's your body and baby and life! My sister-and-law was left to wait and after the birth she was so exhausted she could hardly feed baby for two day after carrying such a big baby boy (4.2kg) through Durban Feb. month!

effacement is how skinny the cervix is you need to be a hundred pc effaced at transport. dilatation starts off at one and is going to ten that's closer to each and all the palms. once you get precipitated they're going to in all probability first of all attempt a cervical thinner which they're going to insert into your vagina to be certain in case you will dilate extra with that...if that would not paintings then they're going to positioned you on an iv drip of patocin which will velocity alongside contractions inflicting you to dialate....he will come down the delivery canal for the time of exertions...if he would not and the fetal heart fee is is in misery they're going to do a c-section. while you're progressing with patocin they're going to in all probability additionally destroy your water.

your doctors are waiting to see if you go into spontaneous labor, it is better than inducing. that being said, if you are in the US and over 39 weeks, you should ask doctor to induce you. it can be done after 39 weeks by your request, but your doctor will need to agree
