Will running LPG on a petrol engine cause more problems to the engine and the car overall? I heard that factory made LPG cars have hardened piston ring, valve seat and other parts.

The drawback on LPG is the storage for the tank -- LPG tanks are huge, but no, LPG is much cleaner burning and leaves very little carbon inside the engine. You change the carbureator, fuel line and tank to convert.

LPG is better for your engine than gasoline. Unless you have a pickup though it's difficult to find space for a tank.
