Steve Nash can score and pass.

Jason Kidd can score, pass, and rebound.
(NBA's 2nd all time in triple doubles)

Although I enjoy watching Steve Nash play, if the NBA keeps on giving him MVP, it is not fair for Jason Kidd. He had 10 tirple doubles this season and it is not even over.

That is a good question. Especially back in 2001-2002 season when Kidd first got to the New Jersey Nets. Kidd had that team going like Steve Nash did, but Kidd didn't win the MVP and he took his team to the NBA finals with a record of 52-30. And they did the samething Phoenix did. Got rid of Stephan Marbury and get another point guard. Because the Nets was not good with Marbury on that team, until they got Kidd. And the Suns was not good with Marbury on that team, until they got Nash.

Kidd numbers was better than Nash. Kidd had 14.7ppg, 9.9apg, 7.3rpg, and 2.1spg. All-First Team, All Defensive First Team.

Nash had 15.5ppg, 11.5apg, 1.0spg, and 3.3rpg. All-First Team. thats it. No finals appearance.

And plus Kidd made Martin, Kittles and Jefferson better. Amare and Shawn Marion was already good. Better than Martin, Kittles, and RJ.

I think to be an MVP you change the look and feel of your team completely, Jason Kidd plays on a team with a lot of stars and they still aren't among the NBA elite. The Suns are very good with Nash.

I'd like to know in how many of those 10 games that Kidd had a triple double did the Nets actually win.

I think the one-year the Nets made the finals I believe it was Kidd’s first year with the Nets; he placed second to Duncan in the MVP, even Duncan said Kidd should have won it. In Nash defense when he came to the Suns they were the worst team in the league and since he’s gotten there the team has been one of the best in the west. If you notice when Nash doesn’t play the Suns are like 4 and 23 or something like that (saw it on ESPN a while back). Therefore, if he doesn’t play his team doesn’t win. He also keeps his personal affairs his own, no black marks on his record that I can tell. Hope that helps you out. (Kidd hit his wife people don't like that)

milestones that players reach dont tend to be counted towards the votes for MVP. i mean if that were the case, Garnett would have a few MVP's to his name based on the fact he leads the comp in double doubles most years.

Nash got the nod the past 2 years as MVP because he transformed the Suns into Finals contenders. last year some say Kobe should have won it, but i think Nash got it because yet again he raised his game without Amare and Joe Johnson and he got his team into the playoffs as a high seed once again.

kidd WAS an MVP candidate both years he got the Nets in the finals. he was very unlucky the first year when he lost out to Duncan. Kidd was a candidate cause he led the Nets who were a poor team without him into the playoffs as a high seed. his overall game was MVP quality.

lately though, Kidd doesnt have the team record to seriously consider him to be an MVP. MVP has some bearing on your teams record, and for Kidd, thats not happening. remember, he wasnt even in the all star game....could the MVP really be someone who wasnt voted into the All Star game?

Although J-Kidd is a triple double machine, he is not making his teammates better. When he is on the floor doesn't affect a lot as when he is out.
Where as Steve "Kid Canada" Nash is making a huge impact on his team. For God's sakes they lost to Atlanta when he wasn't on the floor, and that's their weakness.
The same was with J-Kidd when he was an MVP Candidate, when he wasn't on the floor the team played like crap.

In My mind, the most dominant Stars in the NBA are Pure Point Guards, and Dominant Centers, because when PGs aren't on the floor, no one can pass as good as them, Team doesn't score as much.
When the Center isn't there the paint is there for the taking.

its just because steve nash is a better playmaker and a better basketball player than Jason kidd. Steve Nash is more exciting to watch than Jason Kidd. thats why he won the mvp. and just look what happened to the phoenix suns when Steve nash entered the team. it became one of the best and one of the most exciting teams in NBA. look at the new jersey nets, they are boring and a not competent team in nba.

the secret is how many wins did the player give to the team due to his remarkable play and other qualities. Jason Kidd did not make it as far as the Suns to be blunt. That's about it however Nash's three point shooting and assists are a lot higher than Kidd's.

The MVP goes on stats but also on how your team is playing. Rarely in the history of the league has the MVP gone to a player on a losing team. If Jason Kidd and the Nets can turn their season around he might be considered. Until then he won't be considered.

Basketball is a business. Steve Nash is good for business, like the Manning are good for Football.. Who can afford to pay $50.00 for a basketball ticket, who can afford to buy Steve Nash Jerseys and who can attend All Star Weekend in Vegas. It is not Jason Kidds second cousins or rumored class mates. Do you get the picture?

Steve Nash is also loved by the "Sports Writers,".who could be his relatives on a given day since they all looked alike. Well given a certain perspective.

Yeah, its weird maybe its due to the entertainment value of the player, yeah Kidd did bring Nets to two NBA Finals but Nash only get Suns to two Western Conference Finals. Based on record Kidd should have won but its up to the higher power.
