Venus flytraps or similar plants, fly swats, electric grills with UV lights, unfortunately all of these are deadly, to the flies at least anyway. The plants are your best bet, but these attract insects with colour and scent, in order to kill them, so you might get a few most flies before the plant gets them

Well, keep a flyswatter handy, put alot of fly paper in inconspicuous spots, ( i.e, the ceiling, the wall, the bathroom, the kitchen counter, the top right-hand corner of your favorite painting, etc...) and you can buy Venus flytrap plants and other carnivorous plants. Usually if you let a window open, some flies will fly out. you could also use natural repellent, something flies hate and you could keep things really clean. I hope I helped you! :^)

I have an answer but it would not "kill" flies but in a way, I think it is an effective way for pest-control.

There are these so called "juvenile hormones" that are used now in insecticides that are unharmful to humans. These hormones are naturally produced by the insects themselves. The action of the juvenile hormones is to prevent the complete metamorphosis of the insects. So, the insects will remain in its juvenile form even when it is already an adult (paedomorphism or neoteny). This would render the insect unharmful to humans (just like killing them, but in an indirect way). These juvenile hormones also prevent insects' eggs from hatching.

Deadly things??? To you or the fly?? Surely it has to be deadly to kill?
My fave is a little electrified tennis racket, you swat them with it and little sparks fly! Great fun, especially when used on your brother :-)

My favourite is to have a length of elastic band and flick 'em when they land, it's quite theraputic. The band moves so quickly they have no time to react and fly off unlike with a swatter.

So easy.

I found this out while working in food service. If you get a spray bottle, and fill it with water, you can spray them (with the mist setting) and their wings will be too wet for them to fly. You can them smush them or pick them up and put them outside or whatever.

Good luck!
