I am slowly teaching myself SQL from a free online tutorial! (I already know AS400 and am self-taught in computers and have a computer-related job. Afterwards, could I get a higher-paying SQL job even though I have computer experience but no computer diploma or degree?

Only 25% freshers with B.E/B.tech are getting jobs in it field these days, rest are strugling to get a job for months

It is quiet tough.to get job immediately.
just try to join in small company and get more experience.
if you have good experience degree doesn't matter.
i don't thing for sql you will get good pay.

You can get good free training and experience on SQL Exercises (http://www.sql-ex.ru/).
SQL (DML) Certificate is optional.

hands on experience with good knowledge would definitely pay u more
