I want to know if you think im pregnant... my period is about due within the next few days, i have been having headaches, lower cramping in abdomen, heartburn, frequent urination, and i had sex around my fertile stage. I have just taken a hpt and it was negative... any chance that the test could be wrong? Please help...

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

Yeah, i think the test could be wrong. You can wait a few days and test again, because the percentage for a positive result is much less when it is taken before your missed period. I had all the same things you have and I went to the doc and had a blood test and they never called, so i guess it was negative. :( Good luck to you though, and give it another shot in about 3 days!!

depending on when you had sex, try taking another test in a few days, maybe even up to a week from now. There are chances that it could be wrong, or that it is too soon to find out.
Home tests alot of times are wrong when a woman is pregnant and comes up negative.

Take another test a week after your period is due to come, that is if it doesnt come. Tests say they can tell you before your period is even due, but that is not the case for all women. It depends on your body and the amount of the pregnancy hormone it has released, HCG. Evey woman is different. So relax and try to wait it out. Good luck, I hope you get the answer you want :-)

it takes about 2 weeks after intercourse for results to show up on hpt. retest or see a dr.
