I have a Datsun 330 with an L26 engine and single nikki carb. I suspect the engine is fairly warn and I have found a little carbon build up on the 3 and 4 spark plugs. I need this car to get to and from college (which is up the highway signposted at 110) and I notice at 105 k/ph the car jerks and throws me back and forward in the drivers seat every so often which I put down to a couple of fouled plugs misfiring at fairly high revs....Today I could have sworn there was a backfire and I cleaned the plugs up 2 days ago and they actually looked fine, save for the carbon build up (I used a lil sandpaper to cean them up)....I am wondering if it could be an air leak causing the jerking on the highway?? Does this sound right or is there something else im missing?? I have had the carb rebuilt twice, but someone mentioned it may be an electrical condenser needing replacing. Any Ideas??

check out the electrical , new rotor , cap , condenser , coil and wires , these will cause high speed misfires , good luck.

I was gonna say try cleaning out the throttle body. I assume you checked little things from the distributor cap the spark plug wires. Probably cleaned the battery cables. When my 02 sensor went out i had similar problems. I didn't even get a check engine light for that one. I also had similar problems when my EGR valve died.
