Ok, we invaded Iraq on the eventual pretence that (after all the WMD stuff was found to be incorrect) removing this tyrant would be the right thing to do.

Why then Robert Mugabe is allowed to continue to defy the world and do as he pleases.

Remembering the Somalia debacle, do you think Mugabe should be removed from power? And how?

I was wondering this myself. I have quite a few friends from Zimbabwe, both black and white, who have been forced to leave the country.
The only reasons I can think of are that there would be no material benefit (for the West) for Zimbabweans to have a real democracy. And there hasn't been any real criticism from other African states as most of them are equally corrupt. The best we've had so far is 'tsk tsk' from South Africa.
I think the best hopes for my Zimbabwean friends are:
a) political intervention by South Africa. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
b) an internal coup
c) Mugabe dies at last. Why is it mental dictators often live to a ripe old age?

Mugabe, Saddams dead...... well they're both guilty of atrocities and crimes against humanity as far as i'm concerned but at least Saddam didn't bankrupt his country, Zimbabwe (Formely Rhodesia) was the richest african nation, now its one of the poorest (also mugabe kicked out all the whites, which was bad because his blacks didnt know how to farm so they starved), i would have preferred Saddam at least he beat iran in a war to protect his country.

No oil? Maybe we should start a rumour that there is oil there (after all it worked in Iraq for the WMD's).

And, yes of course Mad Mugabe should be removed, to a prison in his own country, for a very long sentence.

Would you like the US to invade immediately? Or may we finish in one place before moving on? Guide us with your great wisdom.

Maybe the people inside that craphole country can take care of their own problem, the way so many are saying the Iraqis should take care of theirs.

But last I heard, Mugabe isn't inviting in foreign terrorists and soldiers to blow people up at market.

unless the western govts intervene nothing will be done to ease the situ in zim - hope there will be some intervention soon

Mugage has the support of the African Union, any intervention there would seem like a white versus black issue. Saddam didn't have the support of Arab nations.

I've been screaming this at the T.V every time I see Iraq. Mugabe is just a bad a tyrant as Hussian was. WHY is he being allowed to treat people the way he has done and is continuing to do....................... because there is no OIL in his country, that's why!!! Plain and simple. The next country to get it will be Iran......... Now they have lots of OIL........ coincidence.........I don't think so!!!!!!!!!
