As far as i know to become linux programmer we should learn linux programming.Perl, PHP, Phython, Ruby.
But what actually is linux programming.what we should leran in this? Now a days any one using Perl. Is it worth to learn. Give a good info and provide some excellent books on all these topics.

If you wanna drop code on a linux machine and program some linux apps you better go with C or C++. If you wanna drop web server code then PHP is your best out. Java is not bad either but those object zelots have gone 2 far.

Linux programming is nothing but Shell Scripting.
This is important if you are to do tasks on Linux.Its like the Batch File Programming in Windows..but has more capabilities .
Any programming Language used will be there for some time and go as new Programming langs,Models,Frameworks etc come into the picture. In such cases survival will be difficult if you are not ready to adapt and learn. So think before you jump into this field.

The languages you mentioned are typically for web related technologies. Which are great to learn!

If you want to program in linux, I would recommend C/C++, Java.
