2nd answer thanks BUT on the last pop-up screen most of the options, including the one i need, are faded so i cant change them as im not the administrator. so now what?

if you want to change the way your computer reboot or want it never reboot while you are doing a serious issue so what you can do is click on the mycomputer on the desk top with right click and then properties and then a window will pop up with the system properties head...click on the advanced button...then on the startup and recovery section click on setting button you will find a pop up wndow so click on whatever you want to prohibit it to do...hope that helps.

then u shouldnt do it then

hit F8 on boot up

choose disable auto rebboot
