I hardly think you can compare the lies of someone like Blair with a childrens tv program! Ok so what happened on Blue Peter was wrong - but guess what? The person that said "get someone to pretend to phone in" was a human! Therefore human error was at fault! They probably panicked, hoped no one would notice and got caught! Hardly a reason to worry what the country is coming to !

Scandalous! If you can't trust Blue Peter who can you trust.A whole generation of children have had their faith in TV shattered! What I did find funny was that it said on the news that this isn't the first time Blue Peter has been embroiled in scandal, apparently they tried to cover up the death of the 1st Blue Peter dog.I'm not sure how, whether they brought in a lookalike or just wheeled out the old one and pretended it was sleeping!

Blue Peter sucked even when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. It appealed to middle class England, scout and guide members, the children of Times readers who would go to Oxbridge later on.

They would never do that on Tiswas!

I think the Blue Peter "scandal" has been blown out of proportion just a bit! the phone in was for charity so the BBC did not profit from the phone in as far as I can tell. and the child they picked to "win" the contest did receive the prize that was offered.

I think its time to let this one go

blue peter faked a phone in competition and got a kid from a tour to phone in because the computer didn't pick a winner. y didn't they just admit it there and then and just choose one on another show it would of been a lot better than the trouble lying has caused them.

the fact that they didn't check things properly goes to show how lenient they treated this whole issue. i feel sorry for the kids who had to phone in-only to be conned. of course they were let down, and let down badly. they were cheated into thinking that the beeb cared about their interests when they didn't. i've never watched blue peter ever, it's boring and crap. it's one of tv's lowest common denominators. how the hell it has managed to last as long as it has done is just ridiculous. then again, children's tv in britain nowadays has gone to the dogs

The country has really gone to the dogs if you cant even trust Blue Peter anymore.

And to apologise ONLY when they got found out! Shocking!

Premium rate phone calls are a rip off. Don't do it and don't let your children watch anything on TV or listen to anything on the radio that encourages calling in on anything except a freephone or normal rate number.

Aww, don't leave us (well the ones of us who didn't watch anyway) in suspense ... tell us what they said!

Though - one of your 'answerers' said that they apologised later - which has got to be good (even if it was only after they got caught) - so maybe the Blue Peter lot just made a mistake?
