A good friend of mine is just starting to recover from being an alcoholic. His drinking has damaged his liver so badly that it's opperating at 37% efficientcy. Do you know of any foods, beverages, or vitamins that help to rehabilitate the liver?

Having been an alcoholic, drug addict with Hep C for 37 years, I can tell you first hand that MILK THISTLE (2 caps/pills... 70% silymarin...3 times a day), along with a high protein, low fat diet will do the trick. I have convinced Medical professionals who absolutely DO NOT believe in alternative medicine that this routine works. Several of my Doctors now actually prescribe Milk Thistle to other patients because THEIR OWN tests have proven that it has worked, beyond a shadow of a doubt, on me. Also, Milk Thistle has NO drug interactions or adverse side effects. It also does not matter what brand you buy, as long as it is 70% (or more) silymarin, standardized, and not made in a bathtub.

Anything GREEN (and healthy - vegetable like) will help the liver . Aloe vera juice helps as well.

Your friend is lucky that they stopped drinking and that the liver is what gets damaged, as it has the ability to regenerate itself.

Just eat a balanced diet of the FDA recommended foods and stay away from the alcohol.

Welcome back to the world of the non-alcoholics (and dont' be in recovery forever!)

Previous responders to this question are right when they advise using milk thistle, it has been the traditional cure in Europe (starting in Germany) for 800 years. Other midicine systems also have preparations that work. From India, Turmeric has a de-toxifying effect on the liver and some homeopaths recomend Nux Vomica.

Try milk thistle as a supplement. Milk thistle is a gentle detoxifier.

Go on a liver cleanse. But make sure first that he is no longer drinking alcohol. There is no point cleansing when he is still putting unhealthy stuff inside him. Drink lots of water. Hopefully, the liver cleanse and water will help flush out any remaining traces of alcohol in him. So long as there are remaining traces, there is a chance of reverting back to his alcoholic addiction.

GOAT MILK is the best; wonderful for the liver.
I buy Meyenburg low-fat Goat Milk, available at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, those healthy stores, as well as some regular grocery stores. It is most easily digested warmed up up the stove. I warm mine up hot, but not boiling. I found out about it from an amazing doctor/healer from India, a very amazing man, who has so much sacred knowledge. Another dr from India also told me GOAT MILK. Now I drink goat milk every day, a whole container, that is my dinner: quick, easy, and healthy!

Also if he could see one of the doctors featured in the above website, they could be of great help to him, with their powerful healing herbs.

If there become liver, there may well be something of the animal that the liver got here from. If there become tonic water, there may well be huge-unfold water used to make the tonic water. i might consume that.

Oh Lord, please restore my body because I am trying to change- please give me another chance. Amen. God is the most wonderful vitamon I've ever tried! He healed me from Hep.
