What do you think the reason for the transition was?........Do you think appreciation of dark beauty is starting to come back into the mix ?

In the 70's,when you saw a black woman on t.v. or movies,she had darkskin and an afro...then in the 80's and early 90's,thehair got straighter and the skin turned yellow on almost all black women in entertainment.............What was the reason for the transition....It seems as though the tables areturning again...Why do you thinkhis is?.........This question is for anyone with a intelligent answer..no racist replies please!

It seemed in the 80's or 90's it was considered a bad thing to be black,but being mixed was ok.Now people are realizing that beauty comes in all skin colors and ethnicity's.

I think during 80's & 90's we didnt see alot of black people on TV period. And esp. not in any positive roles. There were a hand full of shows I can think of but the black people were only servents like house keepers or the show didnt last.

I wouldnt say that light was right but pobably looked non-threatning to hollywood. Like in Spike Lee's "Schools Dayz". I think in the 90's music videos went on to spread that message as it was hard to find a dark skin sister in there.

We need to be careful not to get caught up in this color complex issue because there is a lot if beauty in black people from the highest yellow to the dark chocolate skin tone. Peace

wasn't blaxploitation especially prevalent in the 70's?
in any case, i think beauty comes in all different colours, sizes, shapes and ages.
