The ad's at the top of the pages for yahoo games and game rooms are annoying and cause me to dislike my yahoo service. I'm considering canceling my accounts.

The advertising is subsidizing the cost of providing the games for free. It is the same model used by free content sites across the web.
If you are willing to pay a monthly/annual fee in exchange for an ad free gaming experience then you should check out paid service like GameTap.

I agree with Anzz, the advertising allows Yahoo! to provide a free service. God bless advertising revenue (seriously).

i absolutely and totally agree that the ads are irritating...but it these ads that let us play games online FOR FREE.
For that matter most of the FREE yahoo! services are thanks to these ads... and am sure its a matter of time the ads appear on the answers site as well considering how popular it is

Most of us would not be online today without advertising. Sorry but that's just the way things work.
