What is there in a name?
And also why should we follow USA in naming our country.
INDIA is a term which generates so much energy when we think or speak. That energy / enthusiasm is not there when I say "United States of India".
I accept, not only Kerala .. all states are acting like a separate country.
- Karnataka has a separate flag for their state. Why can't they use the national flag alone?
- Kerala - you had told what is happening
- Tamilnadu - Politicians have been demanding a separate country comprising of TN and LTTE base in srilanka
- Jammu & Kashmir - They want to be a separate country without any Pak / India interventions
...
I can add up like this for all the states in India.
But, still there is something that acts as a bond between the states which is holding us.
Jai Hind. Long Live INDIA!

India is not a united states of India but a Union of states. both has its own sharp differnces. In the US each state has its own laws and citizenship, each function seperately and have less in common like the rules and laws. In india all the states follow same rules.
For example pornography is legal in some states in the US ,u could not wash ur car in front of ur house in some states , while we have the same laws in every state.

Hi Jfk,
I don't think it will be fare to compare USA with India, They dont have a diverse culture like we do, and if we change the name to USI, then we will be accepting th fact that people over here are divided and they are bound to each other only b/ of geographical reason.

Changing the name of a country is NOT going to bring about national unity. What you need is a change of mind set.. and believe me, Indians are not going to change no matter what you do. Possible answer is having a military rule in India for the next 30 years.. And even that, I am really not sure.
Meanwhile Live and let live

United States of India is possible but the laws must be amended to make this a reality. The people must have a plebiscite to vote if they want to change the name of their country and government.

already we are fighting for water even though we call it in a whole " INDIA". It will never become USI as you said, instead there would be so many nations as much there are States. and war between these nations would finish all that what as "INDIA" was having.please ..... stop this. INDIA is enough.
