Hi. I have 4 children, 3 of which are school age.
~2 of those 3 attend public school
~1 is home schooled
~*~ I decided back in October to Homeschool this one child, after he layed in the hall, blocking the front door, crying his wee heart out, begging for me not to send him to school. I obliged. You see, he has Attention Deficit. He was born not breathing, and didnt breath on his own for 20 minutes. A small amount of brain damage is the result of his absent breathing.
Long story short, my child has no ability to pay attention, even with medication and weve tried all the ones that death and heart palpatations arent a side affect.
He has no distractions at home. TV stays off, the phone is unplugged and his desk has nothing on it but his pencil and assignment.
~For my son, removing him from the public school system was by far the best thing for him. In school, he was not at his peers level. He was always chatting with his friends, not paying any attention to the teacher and very fidgity. He would not accomplish any work in class, so in turn, every day he would bring a days worth of home work home, and his teacher would expect it all completed and returned the next day. Well, that doesnt fly with me. Why should a grade 3 student have 4 hours of h/w each day after spending 51/2 hours in a classroom? Impossible.
~ So on the day he cried so hard, my heart broke. That was the last day of public school for him. My son is completely caught up, and then some. I can still work and homeschool him, as I work mostly nights.
~*~ Pros
1. No homework
2. He gets to swim, ride his dirt bike or go hiking for gym class
3. No stress on what to wear to school
4. He can chew gum
5. Comparing prices at the grocers is considered a math project.
6. He can choose his own daily tasks
7. His school supplies consist of an all-in-one printer( printer, scanner, photocopier) A sophisticated computer, 3 binders, a 3 hole punch, computer paper, highlighters and pencils and erasers. The text books are by choice.
8. No distractions. Other than a pair of cats charging through the house with a lop eared rabit and a toddler behind them!
( yes, a real rabit )
9. He has met numerous other local homeschooled friends
10. He can attend college or university after graduation.
** Many people are under the belief that if you are homeschooled, you can not attend college. NOT TRUE, if you follow the Ministry Schooling Curriculim
~*~Cons
1. Hmmm.... He will be grounded if he doesnt listen
~*~ I highly recommend homeschooling. But its not for children who absolutly love school. It also takes alot of dedication and hard work for the parents. You have to research homeschooling web sites for alot of information, wich is time consuming. But, it is all worth it!

It depends on whether you (the parent) can be a good teacher. I know someone who wanted to homeschool her kids, but she could barely read herself! Luckily she put her kids in public school and in this case they are better off.

My daughters go to a private Christian school. It is kind of the best of both. The smaller atmosphere is more conducive to them being outgoing and having fun, without the problems of the public schools where they live.
Sadly enough, the public schools there have gangs and all kinds of problems.

in my opinion, homeschooling as much as universal point is nice. there are a number of events like debates, elocution etc etc in secondary college and it could be extra clever if a toddler is proficient to it in an ecosystem created in a public college. babies might desire to have interplay....they learn plenty by team discussions. in addition they're going to discover ways to be aggressive which will help them interior the long-term.

It depends on the parent. I was homeschooled and I turned out just fine.

Public School. Where does he otherwise see the real world?
How about friends? Interaction with society?
