disc error means that the disk has a problem and could not be read by the cd drive.

It means your disc is either scratched or damaged in some form. Clean the disc with a soft cloth making sure you don't scratch it, and then if the error still happens, the disc is actually damaged. Most damages or scratches may not be visible by the naked eye.

If this is in regards to the PS2, many people have been having this problem. Certain games will not play anymore on your PS2 and renders it virtually useless.

If it is still under warranty, then I recommend sending it back to playstation to have it fixed.
