Carly stopped being friendly with Lorenzo after he started going after Sonny's business and tried to take it over. Lo ordered a hit on Sonny and that really pissed off Carly and she let him know it. He also brought that "animal" Manny to town and look at the destructions he's done. Lorenzo had way too many secrets the whole time he and Carly were together and I saw that relationship doomed from the start.
I think Lorenzo is better suited for Sky. They seem to have connected since his accident and surgery. Plus the baby seems to have slightly mellowed him.

Because he went to the coffee house to kill Sonny. With his gun drawn, Carly came in behind him and at the same time Sonny drew his gun and shot Lorenzo in the head. They all found out later that Lorenzo was responsible for the Metro Court Hostage situation that just happened.

I missed a few episodes because I'm in school during that time, so I don't know if there is a specific reason, but could it be because Lorenzo is really, really bad and has tried to kill the father of her children, Sonny or have him and Jason sent to prison/
