its in my 9 year olds homework - so it cant be that hard right but its driving me nuts coz i cant work this problem out

This statement had to be said on January 1 of this year and he was born on December 31, 1980.
December 30, 2006 (he is 25)
December 31, 2007 (he is 26)
January 1, 2007 (he says all that stuff)
December 31,2007 (he is 27 and still is THIS year)
December 31,2008 (is still the next year and he will be 28)
Get it. Actually don't feel bad if you did not get it. First time I heard it, I thought it would be some stupid thing having to do with February 29. So it took me longer to solve it.

The day before yesterday was December 30 and you were 25. Yesterday was December 31 and your 26th birthday. Today is January 1st and this year, on December 31 you will be 27. Next year, on December 31, you will be 28.
