I would usually say for Pitching I like to have at least 3 Closers. 1 lights out closer life Rivera, Hoffman, Nathan. A Middle closer, Lidge, Borowski, Gordan. And a sleeper closer (Torress, Tankersley, Dotel) And a closer in the midst. someone who will take the job away from a closer in the future(Zumaya, Wilson) (Later on you can trade a closer for some more help by combineing them in a trade) And then stock the rest with SP. This will keep IP down and give you a good Whip, ERA, and Saves total. If your in trouble and needing more SO you can punt the 3rd closer and add a SP..... along with the closers in waiting.

Nothing beats a good closer - if you have the chance to grab an elite closer (such as K-Rod, Nathan, Ryan, Rivera, Wagner, Putz, etc.) grab those guys fast!!! Good closers are very hard to come by - sure you may be able to pick up the Pirates or Devil Rays closer midseason, but that guy probably won't be that good and they won't get many chances either...
Starting pitchers are very deep this year... I've seen players like Curt Schilling and Jason Schmidt go after pick 100... starting pitchers are always a dime a dozen and good ones always emerge during the season (i.e. - Verlander, Liriano, Cain, Hamels, etc.)
So stock up on some quality closers and go for starters afterwards...

Stock up on good starters - take good starters over good relievers all day but watch your innings. Then I'd say get one lockdown closer and Zumaya - he'll be your other lockdown closer in no time. It's just too easy to play the waiver wire for relief.
Starters, starters, starters, Zumaya

starters are way more important than closers. you can always pick up closers on the waiver wire or with a late pick in your draft. look for starting pitchers that qualify as closers.
