There is a hexagonal opening underneath it on the bottom in the center. There is a lazy "s" shaped tool something like an allen wrench that fits there. You put it in there and manually turn the disposal. It will free up the jam.

You should have an allen wrench tool, that came with the disposer. Underneath in the center, you will see an opening for this tool. Make sure you have the switch off, and insert the tool into the hole, and turn either direction, until you feel the disposer freed. you will need to remove the spoon, so use some long needle nose pliers, to remove the spoon. Make sure you get all of it out, them test to see if the disposer works. If it stops humming, and doesn't seem to work, press the reset button, and try again. Good luck to you!

first unplug the disposal, there is a plug under the sink, look
for it. Then from the top, reach in carefully and try to fish out
the pieces that are stuck in the rotot arms. There are probably
small pieces stuck under the arms. Usually you can feel them
and wiggle them out, but be careful if they are ceramic, you
could get cut. Once you have checked and removed all the
pieces you can find, plug the machine back in , push the reset
button and try turning it on again. If its still jammed, look
around and see if you can find the odd bent piece of metal
that came with the disposal its about 5 inches long and
usually has a bend on each end. Its used under the machine
to manually turn the rotor arms. If you can find where you tossed it, look for the hexagonal shaped hole that it fits
into under the machine, insert the tool and try to turn it.
If that doesn't work, call in the pros.

This first answer is right. Sometimes it's hard to get started so, go back and forth for awhile to start it then run some water down. Put a little Dawn dish soap in to "float" any particles and then water. Once it starts run water for a time to clear it.

I don't know if this will work for you or not, but it always works for me. I put the end of a broom handle in there and move it around. It then works!
