I believe that there are certain protection guidelines you should take into consideration before choosing the anti-virus software to install;
1.) Do not log in with your administrative account; for this reason create a another user account with limited administrative privileges; you'd come across requiring to install certain software; when then, runas admin temporarily. This policy applies to both Windows and Linux OSs.
2.) Use a secure filesystem for your partitions such ntfs for windows instead of fat32, whereby you can set the security permissions for files and folders as well to which accounts are allowed to do which actions.
The two above mentioned points are helpful if u get attacked by a virus where you were logged in as a normal user with limited privileges; it means that Virus will not be able to do much!
3.) Finally, leading anti-virus software are much such as Panda, Symantec, McAfee ...etc.
4.) Not only you should protect your files from viruses but also your network from hackers; so install a proper firewall

I had encountered a huge virus problem once and the last anti virus program that I had ran after about 5 to get rid of it all was Trend Micro. It got rid of everything that the other programs had missed.

i've got used all of them, yet i've got settled on Avast (which could be demanding because it says aloud "VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN as much as date" daily). AVG is notably stable yet its gotten huge and slows your laptop down somewhat. Avira is yet another selection. it is extremely very own selection. when you consider that they are all loose I say acquire one, attempt it a mutually as, then uninstall it and attempt yet another. pay attention, i'm particular people will propose Norton, or McAfee, and so on, that are actually not loose. in basic terms overlook approximately them. in case you choose loose, attempt loose, those classes are all stable techniques. on the different hand, be conscious that the loose techniques are so stable now that the pay classes are notably low-fee. problem is you may shop finding out to purchase them.
