This dream is probably a result of his own worries and fears. He might be feeling guilty about having a close relationship with you, even though he has a girlfriend. Or, his girlfriend is having some doubts about the two of you and its starting to worry him. Either way, the dream symbolizes his unconcious anxiety towards the situation he's currently in.
