My brother just 2 days ago got caught with plagiarism, yet only a warning, and on another essay one single paragraph (introduction), because of me, the other essay he probably can get caught again. I found the exact same material on google, so I know the teacher can probably find it.

Coming clean would be the best idea. If you can find it on google, then a teacher would easily find it with the plagiarism program they use (turnitin.com). So yeah, he's GOING to be caught. He might as well confess before he gets caught, especially since he's been caught before and warned. I would confess and ask for it back. I might be bold enough to ask if I could do it again, but be fully prepared to except a zero. If he's lucky that's all that will happen. He could be put out of school and once you're in bad standing with one school most other schools (including community colleges) are reluctant to allow you admission.

Well, that's not good...colleges tend to take those things really seriously. If he's already turned it in, and there's a pretty good chance he'll be caught, coming clean might be the best idea. They might go easier on him or maybe if he's lucky let him off the hook but I know here they would not be so lenient. Good luck.

well, either way he will feel the consequences of his actions-ie if he gets caught or if you tell the teacher. there is a chance he may slip through but then if it was easy for you to find out he copied it then the teacher will almost most certainly find out. He shouldn't of copied it in the first place, especially at college. Tell the teacher.

At the college level, one should be able to think for themselves. Copying from a book/resource/Internet to do term papers/essays is lazy and unethical. The fact that you helped him shows that you, too, are lazy and unethical.

I hope the punishment is hard so that a valuable lesson can be learned here. I, for one, don't want our future to be led by people that can't do anything for themselves and cheat to get ahead.

Hes better off to just ask for the essay back and take the 0. Most universities will either enter a note on ur transcript record or EXPELL you.

Yikes! Hopefully your brother feels as worried about this as you do and deals with it. If he gets away with it this time it will just encourage him to do it again. I think he should talk it over with the teacher. You never know, the teacher might just want to help him out.
