Lube is all chemicals, and people tend to have allergic reactions to chemicals. Many people have reactions to nonoxyl-9, which is in many lubes. Even if it isn't in the one you're using, though, you could be reacting to any of the million other chemicals in the lube. As long as you're not relying on condoms for birth control, you might try just plain old vegetable oil or Crisco if you need some slide. It's messy, and the slippery effect doesn't last as long, but it won't irritate you. (It'll damage condoms, though, so don't use it with those.) As for yeast infections--any irritation disrupts the whole system, which means you're ripe for infection. Try the vegetable oil; if the problem doesn't stop immediately, see a doctor (after all, it could be something else).

RE:
allergic to lube?
recently my boyfriend and i have been using lube during sex. no we don't use condoms, and i'm on birth control. he plays kinda rough with his fingers but not bad. i fell i might be allergic to it because after intercourse once or twice my vag walls swell not allowing even fingers to go into...

I use "Astroglide" and it's the only one I'll ever use for intercourse. I used to have that same problem and one of my gay friends told me about Astroglide( I know, I know... but he should know right? lol). It doesn't bother me because it's a water based lubricant. I've used KY warming but I like that for external foreplay, not a primary intercourse lube because it just doesn't seem to lubricate enough but it's also water based. You can get Astroglide at any drug store like Walgreen's, Longs Drugs, CVS pharmacy... Try it out. I love the stuff. :)

I agree with the Astroglide, it is the only one I do not have a reaction to, the warming gel could cause that, also tell your boyfriend to stop being even kind of rough!!

Your boyfriend needs to be more gentle because he is probably scratching the walls of your vagina and causing you to swell. You can consult your doctor about it. If not, try this stuff. http://readylube.com/index.html
