I have watched reports and even have heard about children's education issues. Did you know by the 8th grade most kids cannot read? or that our Arizona Mesurement test most our teachers who are teaching our children cannot pass the test themselves? How then are the kids supposed to be prepared for that test? there has over the last 40 years been a major society change in the US we no longer focus on our kid Mothers are no longer involved in the PTA or in the kids extracaricular activities. I was in the Mall the other day and there are 7 yr olds walking by themselves alone!!! now in this day and age that deffinantly shouldnt happen There are so many preditors out there. I am not a parent nor do I profess to know all the troubles of child rearing I do know what I have read in papers and what I have see from just watching every day life and it is sad the day someone who is 19 can see the problems with culture and education when the people who should have the experiance are ignoring it.

Education is being "dumbed" down to make kids who are lazy and do not want to learn to feel good about themselves. They pass these kids up and out into society and all because they are worried about their feelings. Feelings will not get you a job now, will it? Discipline was also removed and kids know they can act like little heathens and nothing will happen to them because Mommy will sue the school district. Bring back paddling and that would be a good start to making kids behave long enough to learn something.

All the things you have observed slowly evolved over the last two generations or more. Some parents are not good at their jobs. Many weren't planning the pregnancy. Not everyone is in a committed relationship. Everyone wants to have it all now and their way. No one wants to handle the responsibility or do the work.

No one writes letters anymore. Everything plugs in and needs batteries. Kids are home alone while both parents (if they're lucky) are working.

Teachers bring their political ideas and religious beliefs into the classroom. The list goes on and on.

Parents aren't how they used to be, not speaking for all parents, just some that i have seen, i work in hospitality management, and the parents will let their 5 year old, 8 year old kids walk around the resort by themselves no issues, in a completely different state, new surroundings, new place, and about half of these little kids have cell phones or walkie talkies! I agree, what happend to our society and parenting? Our society and way of living changes everyday, sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad, the best we can do is encourage those others whom cannot see a clear picture in front of them, sometimes people need direction.

What part of the country do you live in? This is nothing new it's been happening like Bin Laden in Manhattan. We get tested everyday and the people with power is raising the bar like Cingular, thats why nobody cant past it because its like wrestling everything is fake. If it dont apply to right here, right now its useless. America is that way now.

It seems that the teachers are not motivated to educate kids. Plus, some classrooms have too many kids for one teacher to handle. Smaller student to teacher ratio is the best way that each and every child gets the best attention.

Maybe we don't care so much about education as we think we do. If we cared about education, we would elect a President/Governor/Congress Representatives who are willing to spend more money on education. Or we would demand they do something to improve current situations. If we cared about education, we would demand that teachers be paid more, much more. The truth is, we are willing to sacrifice education in a heartbeat.

teachers have the full responsibility to built a student's life.. not only course work, teachers should also concentrate on the well being and habit of reading and writing. teachers should give full time explaining what a student needs to know. this is how students will have the interest to learn and acquire knowledge.
